Robert A. Sibley, Jr.

I was born in 1935 in Dallas, Texas.

Wanda and I have been married for 42 years. We have three children and seven grandchildren.

For the past 32 years, we have lived at 13510 Havershire Lane, Houston, TX 77079-3406 (713-465-5106). Our fax number is (713-465-9440) and my email address is bob@sibley.houston.tx.us .

There were three years in the army, where I taught guided missile electronics.

The University of Texas granted me a Bachelors Degree in Mathematics, and a Masters Degree in Computer Science.  Artificial intelligence was the subject of my thesis.

After helping setup the Computer Center at The University of Texas, and working as a scientific programmer at General Dynamics during college days, I have enjoyed 40  years of professional practice with three organizations.

With IBM for eight years, I engaged in research & development involving programming languages and processors. I managed the Programming Automation Department.

At the University of Houston for thirteen years, I was a tenured professor of computer science, and a member of the graduate faculty.

While at the university, two of us founded what came to be known as Sibley & Associates, Inc. In 1980, I left the university to spend full time managing the company. We developed Systems, sold computer hardware and software, offered training, and provided accounting and networking services.

I have spent the last five years consulting and programming for a few select clients. We successfully integrated company-wide information processing systems.

I enjoy, and am able to do a superior job at:

Management - I have managed a full range of operations within my own company, as well as departments and projects within IBM. I was chairman of the Computer Science Department at the University of Houston. And in 1970, I ran what at the time, was the world's largest computer conference.

Systems analysis, design & programming – I have had a great deal of success at taking systems all the way from problem identification through installation and training. Recent efforts have utilized Microsoft Access, Visual Basic and Front Page, but through the years, I have used a number of other tools.

Training and consultation – Both in an academic environment, and in business, I have found teaching to be perhaps the most rewarding of all of my assignments – especially when problem identification and solution is a big part of the task at hand.

Writing – I am comfortable with marketing, technical and tutorial tasks.

Sales – My efforts seem particularly successful when executive confidence, and/or technical insight is important.
