An Invitation
“Holly
Cove” has been a place of retreat for our family for 36 years; and for
the last sixteen years, an increasing number of groups have found this to be a very
special place where all ages find it easy to find God's presence.
Wanda and I will be pleased if your church or
other group will consider using Holly Cove for retreats, meetings, etc. We are
particularly excited about Christian groups that invite visitors who need
Christian fellowship and a strong witness for our Lord Jesus Christ.
Holly Cove is located on Lake Sam Rayburn near
the West side of the dam, in the Piney Woods of East Texas. 6.5 acres are
bounded by the Angelina National Forest and by the lake.
Wanda named it Holly Cove after the beautiful trees and coves.
Facilities include an
outdoor chapel in the woods, a railroad caboose, shuffleboard,
croquet court, miniature golf and archery. Boating and walks in the forest are
popular. We also play ping pong, horseshoes, washers, basketball, volleyball and board
games. There is often a carnival or dinner in the woods on Saturday night.
With the addition of
a brand new bunk house, we have overnight
accommodations for (48). In addition, there is plenty of room for camping. For day meetings, 100 or more can be accommodated.
We are pleased to reserve the entire camp
for groups of 20 or more.
We can organize
activities, or just provide the facilities. The purpose is to honor and glorify
the name of our Lord Jesus. There are usually times of prayer, worship,
testimony and devotion. These are wonderful times for the family, and great
chances for getting to know Christian brothers and sisters.
