Wanda Nell Williams August 8, 1942 416 Montecito Drive See the Bible in my Hand? This was my birthday present. This was a very special day. Today was the day Wanda accepted the gift of God’s love. She announced her profession of faith before the First Baptist Church, and joined the church. Baptism came a week later. It was such a blessing; Grand Daddy and Grand Mother Simmons were present for the baptism |

Wanda Nell Williams San Angelo Bobcat Band Wanda took up Oboe her junior year. Mr. Homer Anderson, the Band director handed her an instrument and a book and sent her upstairs to the practice rooms to learn to play it. When she was ready she became a full fledged member of the band. For the junior year she marched on the very last row of the band with the glockenspiel and the oboe was to fragile to march. The senior year she was banner bearer and marched in the very front of the band. She started in junior high playing piano for the orchestra, then on to the viola which she played all the way through high school. She was never very good, but she loved it. |

Band This was a very exciting year for Wanda as flag bearer and marching out in front of even the drum major Arthur Thruston. Ann Hamilton and Paula Smith wre behind high with the national and state flags. She never earned any medals as a soloist, but she did earn her letter sweater. To earn a sweater you had to accumulate 2000 points. These points were earned 10 points per hour of practice, and various amounts for various accomplishments and service to the band. |
